Passing through a Nigerian University is not an easy task. There are several things vying for the attention of a Nigerian student already, and food is not a priority, save for the fact that it is necessary for survival.
The typical Nigerian student wants to eat quickly and be on the move, something fast and filling. For those still in the school system, we will agree that these foods below are the everyday besties, and for those who are out of school, I bet these pictures will make you fondly remember the good old days…
1. Risky Burger (Bread and Egg)
I’ve always wondered who came up with the name ‘risky burger’ for this and why. I have also wondered why students don’t seem to mind that the same sups and frying bans are used for whisking and frying the eggs without being washed before being reused all through the day. Anyways, risky is a personal favorite for most students.
2. Indomie and egg
The great thing about Indomie and egg is that with just N100, buy two packs of indomie noodles for N70, 1 egg, N30 and you’ll eat and feel cool. If you were buying the cooked one, it might cost you N150 or N200 though, but its cool all the same.
3. Beans And Garri
This is peculiar to guys. A pot of beans can last two days, with garri to complement. Cool stuff!
4. Suya

Suya is great with garri, or all alone. Suya is an all time favorite for everyone, and Hausa people still hold the secret to good suya on lock down.
5. Concoction Rice
Raw rice, some oil, tin tomato, onions, maggi, salt, ground pepper, all on a burner and in a couple of minutes, voila! food is ready!
6. Spagetti
Concoction spag or white spag and stew, either ways, great and fast meal every time.
7. Fried yam and akara
Sometimes, its like those people who sell this stuff use jazz or something, because when you buy it, you just keep wanting more even though you are filled.
